Tasting notes: Strong and bold, with a pleasing bitterness and decent astringency. I wanted to use hops in a blend, and for Magnus, it seemed like a good time! The base of this is assam, which has a nice malty character. I added some yunnan black tea to temper it back so that the bitterness from both the assam and the hops wasn't overwhelming. There's still a high bittereness in this brew, but it's not unwelcome. I added just a touch of tangerine and white tea to smooth out the rough edges and boost the natural piney citrus of the hops.
