Da Hong Pao or Big Red Robe, is a roasted oolong tea from the Wuyi mountains in Fujian province, China. The high fire treatment gives Wuyi oolong its specific smoky and mineral character. This is a beautifully balanced and complex tea with a deep, yet faint, ripe fruitiness in the background.
The legends are that Da Hong Pao was named for the big red robe used to drape and protect the four special bushes that originally provided this particular Wuyi Mountain tea that miraculously cured the ill and led scholars to great triumph.
